Most medium size business need more than $100,000 to meet monthly payrolls and purchase agreements. They need to increase the FDIC amount from $100,000. $100,000 is way too low, and will cause more bank runs like at WAMU.

Talk about why you are interested in journalism, your experience writing, why you are interested in that particular school, what you are interested in learning, what you think you can contribute to the program and why, and your future goals. Try to do it in a somewhat creative yet journalistic style (maybe as an interview/profile of yourself?) to show that you can practice what you preach and that you are indeed a good writer. You should also maybe talk about your interests – journalists need to be interested in people and in issues. In order to be a good writer, you should also remember that you should be a good (regular) reader.
